Porthkidney Sands

The expanse of sand which forms Porthkidney Sands stretches from Hawk's Point at Carbis Bay to the Heyl river mouth over a mile away. The shallow sloping sand means the tide goes out a long, long way - it also means it comes in fast. Combined with the currents generated by the river mouth and no lifeguard cover this spot isn't without its hazards.

On the other hand, much of the time you can have the place to yourself, and your dog if you have one!
