Re: The Duchy Of Cornwall – Cornish Music Talent – Past Pres

I got bored and made a video for a song we wrote for Kan Rag Kernow called Tekka Ha Hwekka...we obviously lost, or at least didn't win!

Sorry, I've no idea how to make the post look pretty with a picture and all that!

Re: Who ?

Totally against the current 3 parties and whoever their leaders are, all they're proven is that they are only qualified to fail Totally against any religious leader (as I'm not religious)...a British version of the Dalai Lama wouldn't be much cop because (as far as I'm aware) it would then mean he'd...

Re: Duchy, Stannary and the Veto!

True Rosko...I'd had enough of them the moment I'd found out about Julia Goldsworthy and the rocking chair that cost more than my months wages...how she thought she had her finger on the pulse of CPR/Falmouth I've no idea. The LIbDems will never keep a promise, we saw that with their "A vote for MK ...

Re: Duchy, Stannary and the Veto!

So why (to give one obvious example) is the population not (figuratively) "up in arms" over the slap in the face they got over the petition? Because it was 10 years ago Or more recently getting totally shafted by our oh so reasonable and pro-Cornish LibDem MP's Because the MK alternative to these s...

Re: Vote for Scottish independence and show some Cornish dif

When, recently, Cameron accused the Argentinians of "colonialism", I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Almost shat myself with laughter when he said that. Although he does (for once) have a point. It should be up to the islanders (I know he's only saying that because of the oil-fields there, but...

Re: Vote for Scottish independence and show some Cornish dif

I support their right to choose whether they decide to become independent now, or at some point in the future, and their level of "independence".

I feel is up to the people of Scotland

Re: Who owns Scilly?

The document that you are looking at is probably a translation of the original latin text. In the latin text the word comitatus is used - this word particularly in England is often translated as 'county' e.g. an area under the responsibility of a count. Comitatus is a bit more complex than that tho...

Re: Who owns Scilly?

I've just started looking at the Charter...doesn't acceptance of it mean an acceptance that Cornwall is a County?

I'd like to stress this isn't me baiting Marhak (I promise!)

Nothing more than a link...

...to something I felt was interesting.

This is a series of photographs taken in Cornwall in 1913, what I felt was interesting particularly was the car in front of a disused engine house.

This has probably been asked before...

...but does anyone know if Cornwall Council have a policy for referring to Cornwall as "the County" or as "Cornwall" or anything similar?

I'm reviewing a council document and the amount of references to "the county" is starting to make me feel a bit queasy!
