River Thames - June 3rd 2012 - Flying from 'Gloriana' - Accorded full national status
alongside the other national flags of Great Britain.
Informative notes by C24 member 'Marhak':
“The flags being flown were the flags of all 5 constituent nations of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (plus the flag of the City of London, as a courtesy flag, as it was all being held in the City's waters). Obviously approved by the highest authority in the land, they included Baner Peran, being flown as a national flag of equal status. This was the first time since Henry VIII's coronation that Cornwall was being officially and publicly acknowledged as a nation of the UK, separate from, and distinct from, the other 4. Cornwall is NOT a county, it is not part of England, and this display proved it to the entire world. The de facto position of us (currently) being merely administered as though we were a county of England has no legal standing. Our title is Duchy, as recommended by a Royal Commission in 1972.”

For the benefit of casual/occasional/new visitors to C24,
HERE
is the story of
how LOCOG attempted to suppress expressions of Cornish National identity
in the preamble to and during the 2012 Olympiad.
